Hundreds of years after seeing their homeworld destroyed, and shortly after the death of their leader, who guided them throughout their long journey, the remaining T'lek'tarian people continue their voyage through space in search of a new home, now even more lost and uncertain than before
This original work was inspired by a painting by Twin Cities' based artist Adam Nowak, and was premiered by the Twin Cities Jazz Composers' Orchestra at the 2023 Jazz Jamboree, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, on March 3, 2023

Dragons and Unicorns was inspired by a quote from Madeline L'Engle in her book on art and belief, 'Walking on Water': "The artist, if he is not to forget how to listen, must retain the vision which includes angels and dragons and unicorns and all the lovely creatures which our world would put in a box marked Children Only"

World premier of my first symphonic band piece, Fanfare for Band, commissioned by Aaron Hammerman and the North St. Paul High School Symphonic Band. Premiered on May 16, 2016
Initially begun as a response to the shootings in Newtown, Connecticut in December 2012, this piece for jazz orchestra evolved into a response to senseless violence in general, and was completed in July 2014

Mercy is my first composition for jazz orchestra, this piece was composed as a response to the death of an uncle.
